FTL & LTL
First, before we begin, we need to define both LTL and FTL. FTL, our namesake, stands for Full Truckload. It defines any truckload that fills up the entire trailer. LTL stands for Less than Truckload. It defines any truckload that only partially fills up a trailer. Both have their pros and cons. We’ll be going over a few of their pros and cons.
Pros and Cons
FTL truckloads work better than LTL truckloads for nationwide transportation. This is because these truckloads go from point A to point B with no drop-offs between destinations. Vice versa, LTL truckloads are better off with local and last-mile transportation. This is because LTL shipments expect stops so dispatchers can plan out routes for LTL drivers. Although, because of this benefit LTL also faces weakness in shipments taking relatively longer to reach their destination. To summarise, FTL is better is you need nationwide and/or speedy transportation. LTL is better if you need local and/or not time-specific transportation.
